Based on the clones of Sangiovese, like Chianti, some of the most collectible and popular wines in all of Italy are produced here. Most of the tour takes place in the natural scenery of the rolling hills of Val d’Orcia: a natural World Heritage Site protected by Unesco.

As we drive by Chianti hills and the Senese countryside, we will introduce historical facts. Firstly you will visit the town of Montalcino. Montalcino was once an independent town, then the Republic of Siena occupied Montalcino, starting from the XII century. Montalcino was the only walled town in Italy that succeeded in withstanding fiercely a tough siege. The Imperial troops attacked Montalcino in the XVI century, which became the last resistance of the Siena Republic.

The town of Montepulciano like Montalcino has a long history dating back to the Etruscan times. Eventually allied to Florence reached its heyday in the 14th century. Montepulciano was a strategic Florentine stronghold in the Senese territory. You will love its beautiful medieval streets.

By the way, Montalcino is nowadays known mostly for its wine the Brunello and here you will meet a local vine maker for a private lunch with wine pairing of Brunello wines.

Brunello is a wine hunted by collectors from all over the world, its disciplinary requires a minimum of five years of aging to be classified as Brunello di Montalcino.

Based on the Brunello on a clone of the Sangiovese grape varietal, this wine ages for two in oak, the riserva for three.
After the visit to the town, the tour will continue with a Vino Nobile wine tasting by a selected producer, this will be the last stop before driving back to Florence.
